About the role

Two- to three-year postdoctoral position at Ghent University, working with the Radiotherapy department at Ghent University Hospital. The project develops multimodal AI models, combining CT, MRI, PET, dose maps, and clinical records, to personalise prostate cancer radiotherapy plans. Deadline 31 May 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Build deep learning models that fuse imaging modalities with clinical data for treatment planning.
  • Validate models on retrospective patient cohorts and contribute to prospective clinical trials.
  • Publish in venues such as Medical Image Analysis, MICCAI, IEEE TMI, and Red Journal.
  • Co-supervise PhD students and Master’s projects.

Requirements

  • PhD in computer science, biomedical engineering, medical physics, or a closely related field.
  • Strong deep learning experience, especially on imaging data.
  • Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow; familiarity with medical imaging stacks (MONAI, nnU-Net).
  • Fluent English. Dutch is welcomed but not required.

Nice to have

  • Prior work on radiotherapy, oncology imaging, or treatment planning.
  • Publications at MICCAI, MIDL, or in IEEE TMI.
  • Experience working with hospital data under GDPR and ethics approvals.
