Data Analyst, Commercial Operations
A full-time data & analytics role at Jumia, based in Lagos, Nigeria.
About the role
Data Analyst position with Jumia’s Commercial Operations team in Lagos. The role supports category managers, vendor managers, and the country general manager with reporting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analysis across the Nigerian marketplace. Jumia is the largest pan-African e-commerce platform, operating in 11 African countries. Application deadline 10 July 2026.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain weekly business review dashboards covering GMV, take rate, vendor mix, category performance, and operational KPIs.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses for category managers: pricing experiments, promotion effectiveness, vendor performance reviews.
- Forecast monthly and quarterly GMV by category and assortment.
- Identify supply gaps and conversion drop-offs from funnel analysis.
- Train commercial-team staff on self-service analytics tools.
- Partner with the central data engineering team in Berlin on data quality and schema improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Two to four years of analytical experience, ideally in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or consulting.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase).
- Working knowledge of Python or R for data wrangling and statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Willingness to be on the ground at Jumia Lagos five days a week.
Nice to have
- Prior e-commerce, marketplace, or logistics analytics experience.
- Familiarity with cohort analysis, A/B testing methodology, or causal inference.
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
- Experience with dbt, Airflow, or modern data stack tools.
