Public Policy Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa

About the role
Meta is hiring a Public Policy Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa based in Lagos. The role represents Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger) to governments, regulators, civil society, and media across the region. Application deadline 15 August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, and civil society organisations across Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Advise internal Meta teams on local regulatory landscape, election integrity needs, and content policy considerations.
- Coordinate Meta’s response to data protection, content moderation, and platform regulation discussions across the region.
- Represent Meta at public forums, industry events, and government consultations.
- Lead local public policy campaigns and stakeholder engagement programmes.
Requirements
- Eight or more years of experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or law.
- Prior experience working with African governments, regulators, or multinational policy teams.
- Deep understanding of telecommunications, internet, or technology regulation in at least three African markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French or Portuguese a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Sub-Saharan Africa (40 to 50 percent of role).
Nice to have
- Law degree or Masters in Public Policy.
- Prior in-house experience at a technology company, telecoms operator, or major NGO.
- Existing network among African regulators or civil society leaders.
