About the role

One Acre Fund is hiring a Grants Finance Manager to lead grant budget development, compliance, and financial reporting across its portfolio of high-value donor partnerships. The position is a 2-year renewable contract open to citizens or permanent residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Burundi, Nigeria, or to US-based candidates in East Coast major cities. Deadline: 25 June 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

One Acre Fund supports over 4 million smallholder farming families across sub-Saharan Africa by providing seeds, fertiliser, training, and market access on credit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead budget development for donor proposals, ensuring all financial and operational data is accurate and proposal-ready.
  • Provide guidance to fundraising teams on grant agreement requirements and financial constraints.
  • Oversee financial reports to donors, monitor spending across programme countries, and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
  • Lead grant-specific audits by ensuring all financial records and supporting documentation are audit-ready.
  • Validate data in Salesforce and Power BI; develop automated reports to improve grant management efficiency.
  • Build capacity of country finance teams on donor-specific compliance rules.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in finance or accounting with relevant professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Direct experience in grants management within the international development sector.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, advanced Excel, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Eligibility: citizenship or permanent residency in one of the eligible countries listed above.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing USAID, GATES Foundation, or European institutional donor grants.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau for financial reporting.
  • Background in agricultural development or smallholder farmer programmes.
