Trade Finance Analyst, Trade Finance and Correspondent Banking
A full-time finance role at African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), based in Cairo, Egypt.
About the role
Three-year fixed-term mid-level position at the African Export-Import Bank headquarters in Cairo. The Trade Finance Analyst sits inside the Trade Finance and Correspondent Banking department and structures trade finance facilities (letters of credit, guarantees, factoring, forfaiting) for African importers, exporters, and corresponding banks. Responsibilities
- Analyse trade finance applications from African corporate clients and correspondent banks.
- Structure letters of credit, guarantees, factoring, forfaiting, and other trade finance instruments.
- Conduct credit risk assessment and recommend credit limits and pricing.
- Liaise with relationship managers in Afreximbank’s regional offices (Harare, Abidjan, Yaoundé, Kampala).
- Contribute to Afreximbank’s flagship publications on African trade flows.
- Participate in trade and investment promotion events at major African and global venues.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, international business, banking, or a closely related field.
- Three to five years of professional experience in trade finance, corporate banking, or commercial banking.
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills.
- Working knowledge of trade finance products under ICC rules (UCP 600, URDG 758, URC 522).
- Fluent English. Working knowledge of French, Arabic, or Portuguese is welcomed.
- Citizen of an Afreximbank participating state (most African countries qualify).
Nice to have
- Professional certification (CDCS, CSDG, CITF, or CFA).
- Prior experience with an African central bank, large commercial bank, or DFI.
- Strong network in correspondent banking circles.
- Familiarity with Afreximbank’s flagship initiatives: AfCFTA Adjustment Fund, MANSA, PAPSS.
