Postdoctoral Researcher in Deep Learning

About the role

Two-year postdoctoral position at IMT Atlantique, one of France’s leading engineering grandes écoles. The host group works at the intersection of deep learning, signal processing, and remote sensing applications. The position is fully funded with a competitive French postdoc salary. Deadline 31 May 2026.

Responsibilities

• Lead an independent research line on a deep learning topic agreed with the host professor.
• Publish in top ML venues, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, and domain-specific journals.
• Supervise Master’s and early-stage PhD students.
• Contribute to joint projects with French and European industrial partners.

Requirements

• PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, defended at the time of application or about to be defended.
• Strong publication record in deep learning or a closely related ML subfield.
• Python and PyTorch proficiency.
• Fluent English. French is helpful for daily life but not required for the work.

Nice to have

• Postdoc-relevant experience with remote sensing, computer vision, or signal processing.
• Track record of independent research, open-source contributions, workshop organisation, or first-author papers in top venues.
• Experience supervising junior researchers.
