About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring an AI Platform Engineer to serve as the primary technical administrator for IRC’s enterprise AI environments, including the Anthropic Claude platform and OpenAI deployments, across 40+ country offices. The role governs AI tool access, security, and usage policies for humanitarian programme staff worldwide. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, with some remote flexibility. Deadline: 31 August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and configure IRC’s enterprise AI platforms: Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and custom internal AI tools.
  • Manage user provisioning, role-based access, usage policies, and security controls across country offices.
  • Monitor platform performance, uptime, and spend; produce usage dashboards and reports for leadership.
  • Evaluate new AI tools and integrations for fit with IRC’s technology stack and security standards.
  • Build and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and user guides.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to programme staff using AI tools in field and headquarters settings.
  • Coordinate with global IT, data, and engineering teams on integrations with IRC’s identity and data infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing enterprise SaaS platforms or AI/ML tooling in production.
  • Demonstrable experience administering Anthropic, OpenAI, or an equivalent enterprise AI platform.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management protocols: SSO, SAML, SCIM, OAuth 2.0.
  • Experience with API security, cost governance, and compliance frameworks for cloud services.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills; able to explain technical controls to non-technical managers and programme staff.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Azure Active Directory, AWS IAM, or GCP Identity for enterprise access management.
  • Python or Bash scripting for platform-management automation.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI governance frameworks (EU AI Act, IEEE 7000 series, or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in an NGO, UN agency, or international humanitarian organisation.
