About the role

MTN’s flagship Graduate Development Programme is a two-year rotational programme at MTN Group headquarters in Johannesburg, with optional placements at MTN’s 19 African operating companies. Around 25 to 35 graduates selected per cohort across engineering, finance, marketing, data, legal, and human-capital streams. Application deadline 31 August 2026 for the 2027 intake.

Responsibilities

  • Complete four six-month rotations across MTN Group functions (e.g. enterprise business, consumer marketing, network, finance, data and AI, regulatory).
  • Contribute to live group projects and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Spend at least one rotation at an MTN operating company outside South Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Ivory Coast, and others).
  • Complete an embedded MBA-style executive education programme run by MTN Academy.
  • Transition into a permanent role at MTN at the end of the two-year programme.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completed by January 2027, with a minimum cumulative average of 65 percent (upper-second or first-class equivalent).
  • Citizen of an MTN operating-company country (South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Liberia, Sudan, South Sudan, Benin, Congo Brazzaville, Eswatini, Botswana, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan).
  • No more than two years of work experience post-graduation.
  • Fluent English. Working French is welcomed for francophone Africa rotations.
  • Willingness to relocate for rotations across MTN’s footprint.

Nice to have

  • Strong academic record at a recognised university.
  • Demonstrated leadership through student organisations, internships, or projects.
  • Technical or quantitative degree for engineering and data streams.
  • Multilingual ability (English plus French, Portuguese, Arabic, or Swahili).
