Content Engineer
A full-time engineering role at uLesson, based in Lagos, Nigeria.
About the role
uLesson is a leading African edtech company serving secondary school students in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Kenya with curriculum-aligned video lessons, exam prep, and tutor support. The Content Engineer builds tooling that helps content teams produce, version, and deploy curriculum content efficiently. Application deadline 31 July 2026.
Responsibilities
- Build content production tools (authoring, video processing pipelines, asset management, localisation workflows).
- Maintain integrations between content tools and the uLesson learner-facing apps.
- Partner with curriculum, video production, and product teams on content pipeline improvements.
- Operate content tooling in production through on-call rotations.
- Mentor mid-level engineers on content systems.
Requirements
- Three to five years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Go.
- Experience working with media pipelines (video transcoding, FFmpeg, CDN delivery) or content management systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and storage (S3, GCS).
- Strong written and verbal communication in English.
Nice to have
- Prior edtech, media, or content platform experience.
- Open source contributions or technical writing.
- Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
