About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the largest UN agency operating in Africa, with offices in 46 African countries. Programme Analysts support country offices and the Regional Bureau for Africa on governance, climate, poverty reduction, and crisis response programmes. Responsibilities

  • Support UNDP programme design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate with government counterparts, civil society, and other UN agencies.
  • Author programme documents, donor reports, and substantive briefings.
  • Conduct analyses on Sustainable Development Goal indicators and country development priorities.
  • Support resource mobilisation through proposals to bilateral and multilateral donors.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in international development, public policy, economics, or related field.
  • Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the UN system and Sustainable Development Goals framework.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French, Arabic, or Portuguese strongly preferred.
  • UN security clearance and willingness to travel within the duty station country.

Nice to have

  • Prior UN system experience.
  • Familiarity with African Union frameworks and Regional Economic Communities.
  • Field experience in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
