Programme Analyst, Sexual and Reproductive Health
A full-time public health role at United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), based in Accra, Ghana.
About the role
Two-year fixed-term P-2 Programme Analyst position at the UNFPA Country Office in Accra, supporting Ghana’s national sexual and reproductive health programmes. The Analyst sits within the SRH cluster and works on family planning, maternal health, adolescent and youth health, and gender-based violence response, in partnership with the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health. Responsibilities
- Support implementation of UNFPA’s Country Programme on sexual and reproductive health and rights in Ghana.
- Coordinate with the Ghana Health Service, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection on joint workplans.
- Conduct programme monitoring visits to UNFPA-supported facilities and community projects.
- Draft programme progress reports for UNFPA HQ and the UN Country Team.
- Manage relationships with implementing partners (NGOs, FBOs, community-based organisations).
- Support proposal development and resource mobilisation from UNFPA donors active in Ghana.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in public health, demography, gender studies, social sciences, or a closely related field.
- Three to five years of professional experience in sexual and reproductive health programming, with at least two years in a low- or middle-income country setting.
- Strong working knowledge of UNFPA, WHO, and FIGO frameworks on family planning, maternal health, and adolescent SRH.
- Demonstrated experience with monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems.
- Fluent written and spoken English. Knowledge of a Ghanaian language is welcomed but not required.
- Strong commitment to gender equality, rights-based approaches, and the SDG 5 agenda.
Nice to have
- Prior UN, UNFPA, or major international NGO experience.
- Field experience in Ghana, particularly in the Northern regions or Volta Region.
- Familiarity with the Ghana Adolescent Health Service Policy and Strategy.
- PhD in a relevant field.
