About the role

The World Food Programme recruits Logistics Officers across its African operations (Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, DRC, Nigeria, Sudan, Chad, Mauritania, and more). Logistics Officers lead supply chain operations: food procurement, warehousing, transport, fleet management, and last-mile distribution. Responsibilities

  • Manage supply chain operations: in-country procurement, warehousing, transport, and distribution.
  • Lead emergency supply chain responses including airlifts, river barge, and last-mile distribution.
  • Coordinate with humanitarian partners, government counterparts, and commercial logistics providers.
  • Author logistics standard operating procedures, after-action reviews, and donor reports.
  • Manage WFP fleet, fuel, and warehouse staff (team of 10 to 30 reports).

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in logistics, supply chain, engineering, transport, or business administration.
  • Five to seven years of relevant professional experience including humanitarian or emergency logistics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing supply chain operations in challenging environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French or Arabic strongly preferred.
  • UN security clearance and willingness to deploy to hardship duty stations.

Nice to have

  • Prior WFP, UNICEF, or ICRC supply chain experience.
  • Pilot, master mariner, or other transport-mode professional qualifications.
  • Field experience in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
