Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) 2026/2027
A stipend only scholarship from Global Education Analytics Institute and Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), based in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Overview
AFEP is a two-year research fellowship for early-career African scholars building expertise in education policy and quantitative research methods. Fellows receive a USD 25,000 research grant plus up to USD 25,000 more in covered costs for mentorship, conference travel, and in-country workshops, totalling up to USD 50,000 in total support. The program is delivered in collaboration with Stanford University and a panel of African and international advisors. Fellows must be affiliated with a government, research institution, or university in Sub-Saharan Africa and remain based in their home country.

Eligibility
- Nationals of a Sub-Saharan African country
- Age 35 or younger
- Holds a Masters or PhD in a relevant field with strong quantitative skills
- Demonstrated data analysis experience
- Currently employed at a government ministry, research institute, or university
- Proficient in English
- Female candidates especially encouraged
How to apply
Submit a two-page statement of interest, a two-page essay addressing an educational problem and its quantitative evaluation method, and an updated CV with two referees via the PEP portal. The deadline is 30 June 2026.
