Obama Foundation Leaders Africa 2027

Overview

The Obama Foundation Leaders Africa programme is a six-month leadership development programme for emerging African leaders aged 24 to 45. Around 100 Leaders per cohort selected from across the continent. The programme combines a virtual curriculum, in-person convenings in an African city, and continued peer engagement. The 2027 cycle closes 30 September 2026.

Eligibility

• Aged 24 to 45 at the start of the programme.
• Citizen of, or working primarily in, an African country.
• Demonstrated leadership track record in any sector: civil society, government, business, arts, faith, sports, education.
• Working on a tangible challenge or initiative.
• Strong English (the programme is run in English; some content available in French).
• Not currently in receipt of another major Obama Foundation programme.

2. Complete the online application: personal information, leadership track record, the challenge or initiative you are working on, two references, and short essays.
3. Submit before 30 September 2026.
4. Shortlisted candidates progress through video interviews and group exercises in November-December 2026.
5. Final cohort is announced by February 2027 for the programme starting in March 2027.
