Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships 2027

Overview

The Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships cover the difference between Home and International PhD tuition fees at the University of Edinburgh. Around 30 awards per cycle. Edinburgh is a Russell Group university and one of the world’s top 30 research institutions. The 2027 cycle closes 31 December 2026 for September 2027 entry.

• Not in receipt of full external funding that already covers Edinburgh tuition.

How to apply

1. Apply for admission to your chosen Edinburgh PhD programme through the Edinburgh online application portal.
2. Submit your research proposal and supporting documentation by the Edinburgh PhD application deadline (typically late November-early December 2026 for most schools).
3. Complete the Global Research Scholarship application form linked from the funding page.
4. Submit before 31 December 2026.
5. Final scholars are announced by April 2027 for September 2027 entry.
