Royal Society African Career Acceleration Awards 2027
A fully funded postdoc scholarship from The Royal Society (UK), based in Multiple.
Overview
The Royal Society African Career Acceleration Awards fund mid-career African researchers to remain in Sub-Saharan Africa and establish their own independent research lines. The programme is unusual: it deliberately funds African scientists IN Africa, not for relocation to the UK. Recipients receive up to GBP 690,000 over five years to set up a research team, equipment, and travel budget at their African host institution, with mentorship from a UK partner researcher. Around 8 to 10 awards per cycle. The 2027 cycle closes 30 September 2026.

- Up to GBP 690,000 over five years.
- Researcher salary support (you remain employed by your African host institution).
- Research consumables and equipment budget.
