Erasmus Mundus
EU-funded joint Master's across multiple countries
Official site: erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are EU-funded international degrees delivered by a consortium of universities in at least two countries. The scholarship is generous, but it is attached to specific joint programmes and there is no general pool, so you choose a programme first and apply for the funding through it.
Programmes
- Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM): integrated study in two or more countries
When it opens
There is no single deadline. Each joint programme sets its own, usually between October and January for entry the following academic year, and publishes it on its own website.
Who qualifies
Graduates (or final-year students expecting to graduate) from any country, admitted to a specific joint programme. Some programmes have field-specific prerequisites, and competition for the scholarship happens within each consortium.
What it pays for
A monthly living allowance, a contribution to travel and installation, participation costs, and in most cases tuition, for the full duration of the programme.
How the application works
Apply to each consortium through its own application form; the European Commission does not take applications. You can apply to more than one programme, each with its own deadline and requirements.
Where applications go wrong
- Looking for one central application or a single deadline
- Not planning for the move between countries partway through the degree
- Missing one programme's earlier deadline while working towards another's later one
Fake calls and fees
Official information lives on the Erasmus+ site and each consortium's university domains. The programme does not charge a scholarship application fee.
