Risk Analyst

About the role

Branch International is a mobile-first digital bank operating in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and India, serving 5+ million customers with savings and loan products. The Risk Analyst supports credit risk and fraud teams in maintaining portfolio quality across Branch markets. Application deadline 31 July 2026.

Responsibilities

• Monitor portfolio risk metrics (default rates, vintage curves, roll rates) and report weekly to credit leadership.
• Build SQL queries and Python notebooks to investigate model performance and drift.
• Partner with data science to test new credit scoring features and approve model deployments.
• Investigate fraud signals and partner with operations on rule changes.
• Author monthly market risk reviews for Branch executives.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• Two to four years of experience in credit risk, fraud, data analytics, or actuarial science.
• Strong SQL skills (advanced joins, window functions, CTEs).
• Working knowledge of Python or R for data analysis.
• Strong written communication; comfort presenting to credit committee.

Nice to have

• Prior experience at a digital lender, fintech, or bank credit team.
• Familiarity with credit bureau data (CRB Kenya, Nigerian credit bureaus).
• Machine learning credit-scoring exposure (XGBoost, logistic regression).
