Software Engineer II, Microsoft ADC
A full-time engineering role at Microsoft, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
About the role
Microsoft’s Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Nairobi and Lagos is hiring Software Engineer II roles across Azure, Microsoft 365, GitHub, and Dynamics product groups. The ADC builds engineering work that ships globally and also tackles Africa-specific challenges. Application deadline 31 July 2026.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features for global Microsoft products, contributing code that ships to millions of users worldwide.
- Collaborate with engineering teams in Redmond, Dublin, Hyderabad, and other Microsoft engineering hubs.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations.
- Contribute to Africa-relevant features (language support, offline modes, low-bandwidth optimisation).
- Mentor interns from the Microsoft Africa Graduate Programme.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- Two or more years of professional software development experience in C#, Java, Python, TypeScript, or C++.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and distributed systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system design).
- Authorisation to work in Kenya (Microsoft supports relocation for qualified non-Kenyan African candidates).
Nice to have
- Experience contributing to open source on GitHub.
- Background in AI, ML, or developer tools.
- Masters in a relevant technical field.
