Tanzania Market Access Lead (Fixed-Term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is hiring a Tanzania Market Access Lead to build and lead the country’s market access portfolio, starting with cashews and expanding across priority agricultural value chains. This is a senior, 2-year fixed-term leadership role open only to citizens or permanent residents of Tanzania. Deadline: 5 August 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. One Acre Fund supports over 4 million smallholder farmers across sub-Saharan Africa through bundled farm services including seeds, training, and market linkages delivered on credit.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Tanzania’s multi-year market access strategy, prioritising which value chains to pursue and in what sequence.
• Design commercially viable models for aggregation, processing, value addition, and market development for priority crops including cashews.
• Manage strategic partnerships with processors, buyers, and commercial entities; serve as primary liaison with government stakeholders and donors.
• Lead a team delivering both farmer-facing and commercial workstreams across HQ and field operations.
• Monitor supply chain performance, sales data, partner outcomes, and farmer impact indicators.
• Advise country leadership on capital and talent allocation for market access investments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Agribusiness, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years in agribusiness, market access, or value chain development in East Africa.
• Track record of leading teams and translating strategy into on-the-ground execution.
• Strong financial analysis and numerical literacy; experience building business cases.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage commercial partnerships.
• Knowledge of value chain dynamics from aggregation through export.
• Citizenship or permanent residency in Tanzania is required.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in the cashew, maize, or beans value chain in Tanzania.
• Government relations or public-private partnership experience in the East African agricultural context.
• Familiarity with One Acre Fund’s model or similar bundled service approaches.
