About the role
Three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo. The project investigates immune regulation at mucosal surfaces (gut, lung, and airway), with a focus on how epithelial-immune cell crosstalk governs barrier function and inflammatory disease. Postdoctoral fellows are employed as university staff on Norwegian state salary scale with pension and full social benefits. Deadline: 5 June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments in mucosal immunology, including primary cell culture, organoid models, and in vivo murine models.
- Apply flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and next-generation sequencing approaches (scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics).
- Analyse large immunological datasets using R or Python; integrate multi-omics outputs.
- Co-supervise Master’s and PhD students.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
Requirements
- PhD in immunology, biomedicine, molecular biology, or a closely related field awarded before the start date.
- Documented experience with primary mucosal immune cell isolation and functional assays.
- Proficiency in flow cytometry and at least one transcriptomic or multi-omics technique.
- Strong written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- Experience with organoid culture systems (intestinal, airway).
- Background in computational analysis of single-cell data.
- Publications in mucosal immunology or closely adjacent fields.
