A full-time research & academia role at University of Oslo, based in Oslo, Norway.
Position closed.
The deadline (1 Jun 2026) has passed.
About the role
Three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Precision Psychiatry (CPP), Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital. The centre integrates genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and clinical data to understand the biological underpinnings of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression. The postdoc will build multi-omics integration pipelines to identify molecular subtypes that predict treatment response. Employed under Norwegian state salary scale with pension and full benefits. Deadline: 1 June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Develop and apply multi-omics integration methods (e.g., MOFA+, SNF, sparse CCA) to large psychiatric biobank datasets.
- Perform genome-wide association study (GWAS) analyses and polygenic risk score derivation.
- Integrate transcriptomic (bulk and single-cell RNA-seq) and proteomic data with clinical phenotype records.
- Write peer-reviewed publications; aim for two first-author papers per year.
- Present at international psychiatry and computational biology conferences.
Requirements
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistical genetics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Proficiency in R or Python for large-scale genomic data analysis; familiarity with HPC cluster environments.
- Hands-on experience with at least two types of omics data (e.g., genetics + transcriptomics, or proteomics + metabolomics).
- Strong publication record relative to career stage.
- Excellent English communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with psychiatric or neuroscience datasets (e.g., UK Biobank, iPSYCH, TOP study).
- Familiarity with Bayesian or machine learning approaches to multi-omics integration.
- Knowledge of Norwegian mental health registry systems or GDPR-compliant data handling.
