ANU PhD Scholarship 2027 (Round 1)

Overview

ANU automatically considers all eligible PhD applicants for the ANU PhD Scholarship with each round of admissions - no separate scholarship application is required. International students applying for admission by 31 August 2026 are considered in the main annual scholarship round for February 2027 entry. The scholarship pays AUD 39,069 per year (2026 rate) as a tax-free stipend, plus full tuition fee remission and health insurance. All research disciplines are eligible.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree with first-class honours, a Masters degree with a research component, or equivalent research experience
• Open to all nationalities
• English proficiency required (IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or equivalent)
• Must identify a willing ANU supervisor before applying; a brief email to the prospective supervisor is the standard first step
• Applicants who received their bachelor’s more than 10 years ago should contact the Graduate Research Office

How to apply

Identify a supervisor in your chosen department, then submit an application for admission to an ANU PhD program through the ANU online admissions portal by 31 August 2026. Upload academic transcripts, a research proposal, evidence of English proficiency, and two academic referee reports. All eligible applicants are automatically assessed for the scholarship - no additional form is needed.
