Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships 2027 (Toronto)

Overview

The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the University of Toronto’s most generous undergraduate scholarship for international students. It covers tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence for four years. Around 37 Pearson Scholars are selected each year from a pool of nominees forwarded by their high schools worldwide. Open to international students entering U of T directly from secondary school. The 2027 cycle’s nomination deadline (school step) is 30 October 2026; the scholarship application deadline (student step) is 5 November 2026.

Eligibility

• International student (not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident).
• Currently in your final year of secondary school or graduated no earlier than June 2024.
• Entering U of T directly from secondary school for autumn 2027.
• Nominated by your secondary school (you cannot apply directly; the school submits the initial nomination).
• Demonstrated leadership, creativity, and impact within your school and community.
• Strong academic record (varies by country, but typically top of class).

How to apply

1. Ask your secondary school’s guidance counsellor or international coordinator to nominate you through the U of T nomination portal. The school’s nomination deadline is 30 October 2026.
2. Once nominated, you receive an invitation to complete the Pearson Scholar application.
3. Submit the Pearson application: personal essays, school reference, transcript, and a written response to the leadership prompt.
4. Apply for admission to U of T separately by the standard international application deadline.
5. Submit the Pearson application before 5 November 2026.
6. Finalists are notified in January 2027. Pearson Scholars are announced in spring 2027 for September 2027 entry.
