SAICA Thuthuka Bursary Fund 2027
A fully funded undergraduate scholarship from South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), based in South Africa.
Overview
The Thuthuka Bursary Fund is SAICA’s flagship undergraduate scholarship for Black African and Coloured South African students who want to qualify as Chartered Accountants. The award covers full tuition, accommodation, books, and a meals allowance at one of nine accredited South African universities. Around 350 new bursaries are awarded each cycle. The 2027 academic year cycle closes 31 August 2026.

Eligibility
- South African citizen.
- Black African or Coloured per the Employment Equity Act definitions (the bursary is part of the profession’s transformation programme).
- Combined household income below the published cap (typically around ZAR 350,000 per annum).
- Strong matric pass: minimum APS as published by SAICA, with at least Level 5 in Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and English.
- Provisional acceptance into the BCom Accounting programme at one of the nine accredited universities (UCT, Stellenbosch, Wits, UJ, Pretoria, UFS, Limpopo, North-West, or Walter Sisulu).
How to apply

- Download the current application pack and complete the form.
- Attach: matric statement of results (or current Grade 12 progress report), South African ID, parental or guardian income statements, and your university provisional acceptance letter.
- Submit by 31 August 2026.
- Shortlisted candidates attend a bursary selection day at their nearest university campus in September or October. Recipients are notified by November 2026.
