Overview

Tsinghua University in Beijing, China’s top-ranked university, funds Masters and PhD international students through several streams including the Tsinghua University Scholarship and the Schwarzman Scholars partnership. The Tsinghua University Scholarship for International Students is the main award for non-Schwarzman applicants and covers full tuition plus a monthly stipend. The 2027 cycle closes 15 January 2027.

Eligibility

• English proficiency (TOEFL 90+ or IELTS 6.5+) for English-taught programmes; HSK 5 for Chinese-taught programmes.
• Strong academic references and statement of purpose.
• Not currently enrolled in a Chinese university.

How to apply

1. Open the Tsinghua admissions portal at the source link.
2. Identify your target programme (most graduate programmes have English-taught options).
3. Apply for admission and the scholarship simultaneously through the Tsinghua online application system.
4. Submit: academic transcripts, language certificates, two reference letters, statement of purpose, research proposal (PhD applicants), and passport copy.
5. Submit before 15 January 2027. Most admission and scholarship decisions arrive between April and June 2027 for September 2027 entry.
