Yale World Fellows 2027

Overview

Yale World Fellows is a four-month residential fellowship for emerging global leaders, hosted at Yale University each autumn. Around 16 to 18 Fellows per cohort from countries other than the United States. The programme combines auditing Yale courses, intensive leadership development, peer learning, and policy convenings. African Fellows make up a strong fraction of most cohorts. The 2027 cycle deadline is 1 October 2026.

Eligibility

• Non-US citizen ordinarily resident outside the US.
• Aged 30 to 45 at the start of the fellowship.
• Mid-career professional with significant achievements in a relevant field (business, government, NGO, journalism, arts, science, civil society).
• Demonstrated leadership track record at the national or international level.
• Strong English language proficiency.
• At least 10 years of professional experience.
• Not previously a Yale Fellow or alum.

2. Complete the online application: personal statement (1,000 words), CV, three references, two short essays on your leadership story and your goals for the fellowship.
3. Submit before 1 October 2026.
4. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by Yale faculty and World Fellows alumni in November-December 2026.
5. Final Fellows are announced by March 2027 for the August 2027 cohort.
