Senior Investment Officer, Infrastructure Finance

About the role

The African Development Bank’s Private Sector Department recruits Senior Investment Officers across infrastructure finance, financial intermediaries, agribusiness, and ICT. The Senior Investment Officer, Infrastructure Finance originates and structures non-sovereign infrastructure loans and equity investments across Africa. Application deadline 31 August 2026.

Responsibilities

• Originate, structure, and execute non-sovereign infrastructure transactions (power, transport, water, telecoms).
• Lead financial modelling, term sheet negotiation, and credit committee submissions.
• Manage portfolio infrastructure transactions through construction and operations.
• Coordinate with co-lenders, sponsors, and African government counterparts.
• Author transaction memos and represent AfDB at industry forums.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in finance, engineering, economics, or related quantitative field.
• Ten or more years of relevant professional experience in infrastructure finance, project finance, or investment banking.
• Demonstrated track record closing African or emerging market infrastructure transactions.
• Strong project finance modelling skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French (both required at AfDB).

Nice to have

• Prior in-house experience at a multilateral development bank, infrastructure fund, or DFI.
• CFA or relevant professional qualification.
• Existing relationships with African infrastructure sponsors and regulators.
