Assistant Professor in Statistics and Data Science (Tenure-Track)

About the role

Tenure-track Assistant Professor position at MBZUAI in Abu Dhabi, in the Department of Statistics and Data Science. MBZUAI offers globally competitive compensation, a tax-free salary, generous start-up packages, and a low teaching load. The deadline is 31 July 2026.

Responsibilities

• Build an independent research line in statistics, probability, or data science.
• Supervise PhD students and contribute to the MBZUAI doctoral programme.
• Teach two graduate courses per year in your specialisation.
• Engage with the wider Abu Dhabi data-science ecosystem (G42, ADQ, partner labs).

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field by the start date.
• Track record of high-impact publications in top statistics or ML venues (JASA, JRSS B, Annals of Statistics, NeurIPS, ICML).
• Demonstrated potential to attract external research funding.
• Fluent English (MBZUAI’s working language).

Nice to have

• Postdoctoral experience at a leading institution.
• Strong industry collaboration record.
• Best-paper or award-winning publications.
