Country Manager

About the role

The Trade and Development Bank (TDB) is a multilateral development bank serving 25 African states across the Eastern, Southern, and Horn of Africa regions. TDB recruits Country Managers leading the Bank’s relationships, business development, and portfolio management in major markets (Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, DRC, Egypt, Sudan, and others). Responsibilities

• Lead TDB’s country strategy: business development, sovereign and non-sovereign origination, and stakeholder relations.
• Build relationships with the host government (Ministry of Finance, Central Bank, line ministries), banks, corporates, and DFIs.
• Manage the country portfolio: origination, monitoring, and workout coordination.
• Coordinate with TDB sector teams (trade finance, project finance, treasury, climate finance).
• Represent TDB at country and regional forums.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related field.
• Twelve or more years of relevant professional experience including senior responsibility for an African market.
• Strong network in the country’s financial services and government.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French, Arabic, or Portuguese an asset for relevant markets.
• Authorisation to work in the duty station.

Nice to have

• Prior in-house experience at a multilateral development bank, DFI, or major African bank.
• MBA from a top global business school.
• Membership of the relevant national bankers’ association.
