Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) 2027

Overview

The Chinese Government Scholarship is funded by the Ministry of Education of China and administered through the China Scholarship Council (CSC). It funds Bachelor, Masters, PhD, and Chinese language study at over 280 Chinese universities for citizens of all countries. Around 50,000 awards per year globally. Most African embassies handle their own application route. The 2027 cycle closes between March and mid-April 2027 depending on country.

Eligibility

• Non-Chinese citizen in good health.
• Aged under 25 (Bachelor), 35 (Masters), or 40 (PhD).
• Academic record: secondary completion (Bachelor), Bachelor (Masters), Masters (PhD).
• Strong English or Chinese language proficiency (depending on programme of study).
• Not currently enrolled in a Chinese university.

How to apply

1. Open the CampusChina portal at the source link and identify your preferred host university and programme.
2. Apply through your Chinese Embassy or through a designated Chinese university (Type A or Type B route). Most African applicants use the embassy route.
3. Submit application package: academic transcripts, language certificates, two reference letters, study plan, medical examination form, passport copy.
4. Submit before your local Chinese Embassy’s deadline (most close late March to mid-April 2027).
5. Final scholars are announced between June and July 2027 for September 2027 entry.
