Mastercard Foundation Doctoral Scholarships (DrPH) at University of Toronto 2027

Overview

Up to 3 fully funded Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) scholarships are available for Sub-Saharan African students at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health for the 2026-2027 admission cycle. This is a professional doctorate, distinct from the traditional PhD, and is offered through the Africa Health Collaborative partnership. All tuition, travel, housing, food, books, and other program costs are covered for the full program duration. Scholars must commit to returning to Sub-Saharan Africa for the final two years of the program.

Eligibility

• Sub-Saharan African citizen currently residing in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Graduated from an Africa Health Collaborative partner university
• Not yet enrolled in any doctoral program
• Demonstrated academic excellence and leadership at both undergraduate and master’s levels
• Commitment to returning to Africa for the final two years of study

How to apply

Attend a mandatory virtual information session where the Mastercard Foundation application link is provided. If shortlisted, complete the DrPH program application to the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. The program application deadline is approximately 21 November 2026, but the Mastercard Foundation scholarship application deadline is 10 October 2026. Check the DLSPH website for exact information session dates. Only candidates who complete the Mastercard Foundation application before 10 October will be considered for scholarship funding.
