SOAS Felix Scholarships 2027

Overview

The Felix Scholarships fund Masters and PhD students from India and other developing countries (including most African nations from 2025/26 onwards) to study at SOAS, the University of Reading, or the University of Oxford. SOAS administers around 4 to 5 Felix scholarships per cycle. The awards are extremely generous: full fees, full living costs, return airfares, and equipment grants. The 2027 SOAS cycle closes 19 January 2027.

Eligibility

• Citizen of a developing country, with strong representation from India and increasingly from Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Holding (or expecting) a Bachelor’s degree at first-class honours or equivalent at the time of application.
• Holding (or applying for) admission to a SOAS Masters or PhD programme for September 2027 entry.
• Strong English language proficiency.
• Demonstrated need: the Felix scholarship is specifically for students who cannot otherwise fund Western higher education.
• Commitment to return to home country and contribute after graduation.

How to apply

1. Apply for admission to your chosen SOAS Masters or PhD programme through the SOAS online application portal.
2. Once you hold an offer (conditional or unconditional), complete the SOAS Felix Scholarship application form linked from the source page.
3. Submit: academic transcripts, motivation letter on the case for funding, two academic references, and a return-to-home commitment statement.
4. Submit before 19 January 2027.
5. Felix Scholars are announced by April 2027 for September 2027 entry.
