Overview
Chevening is the UK Government’s flagship scholarship for emerging leaders worldwide. It funds one year of Masters study at any UK university for candidates with two or more years of work experience and demonstrated leadership potential. Open to over 160 countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and across the African continent. The 2027/28 cycle opens 4 August 2026 and closes 5 November 2026 at 12:00 BST.

Eligibility
- Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (most of the world except the UK, EU/EEA, and a few others).
- At least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience, paid or voluntary.
- Bachelor’s degree at an upper second class or higher.
- Return to your home country for a minimum of two years after the Chevening year ends.
- Apply to three different eligible UK Masters courses; at least one offer required before the final selection.
How to apply
- Open the Chevening application page at the source link when the cycle opens on 4 August 2026.
- Complete the online application: personal details, work experience, three course choices, and four essays (leadership, networking, study, career plan).
- Submit before 5 November 2026, 12:00 BST. Late submissions are not accepted under any circumstances.
- Shortlisted candidates are interviewed at the British Embassy or High Commission in their country between February and April 2027.
- Final awards announced in June 2027; scholars travel to the UK for the academic year starting in September 2027.
