Knight-Hennessy Scholars 2027 (Stanford)

Overview

Knight-Hennessy Scholars is Stanford’s flagship graduate scholarship: a fully funded award for up to three years of any Stanford graduate degree, paired with a leadership development programme called the King Global Leadership Program. Open to applicants worldwide, including across Africa. Around 100 Scholars per cohort. Selection is intense; most years see acceptance rates well under 1 percent. The 2027 cycle closes 7 October 2026.

Eligibility

• Holding or expecting a Bachelor’s degree by August 2027.
• Bachelor’s degree must be earned in or after 2020 (so not too long after undergraduate completion).
• Applying for or admitted to a Stanford graduate degree programme (MA, MS, MBA, JD, MD, PhD, or others). Knight-Hennessy is one programme; the Stanford degree is a separate admission.
• Open to all nationalities; no fixed age cap.
• Strong leadership record, character, intellectual ambition, and capacity to contribute to the cohort.

How to apply

1. Apply for admission to your chosen Stanford graduate programme (separate Stanford application; deadlines vary by degree, often December or January).
2. Open the Knight-Hennessy Scholars application portal at the source link.
3. Complete the Knight-Hennessy application: short questions, essays, video statement, two recommendation letters tailored to the Knight-Hennessy criteria.
4. Submit before 7 October 2026, 13:00 Pacific Time.
5. Stanford graduate admission proceeds independently. Knight-Hennessy finalists are interviewed in February 2027. Scholars are announced in March 2027 for September 2027 start.
